Help needed on the Power Cap
« on: July 12, 2007, 10:08:50 PM »
Just installed a used Helix 1F Powercap with LED voltage display.

Somehow the voltage is hovering from 8-10V.  What went wrong?

try and test the voltage with another meter and see whether its the same voltage ....

8-10V would damage any audio equipment ...

and if the voltage is different then maybe the Helix cap is in-accurate ...

as for as i know, the voltage meter on the caps are non-adjustable ...

just took a voltage measurement.  the voltage across the Cap is >14V, but the display only shows 8-10V  /99

is the voltage affect by the Cap charging process?

is this a new or old cap?

if new, it should be installed properly using a small filamen mentol to slowly charge it up first .... who installed it for you?

in the mean time, does your audio equipment shows any sign of power depreviation?

wat does your front brax voltmeter tell u?

sometimes u can find a small calibration adjustment knob for the display to give correct reading but not all caps have this.

also not all caps need to do the mentol discharge thing, some smart caps just plug n play only nowadays..

The Helix DPC1000 smart cap does not need the resistor for initial charging compared to the CAP1000 (without meter). I highly advice against buying used caps unless you know it's history of usage. It's like buying a used battery.  O0
