guys...

not sure if this has been discussed before but got me thinking about this recently...

is it better to install the midbass driver at the door panel or kickpanel?

which one is better? pros and cons?

for midbass doors would be better as u get more volume behind it, for kickpanel midrange is better as u can reduce pathlength difference.  also dont need so much volume compared to midbass.

let say my 5.25" mid is on dashboard, can i highpass it at the amp at 80hz@24db, lowpass according to passive.
then my 6.5" midbass highpass at 80hz@12db, lowpass according to the passive.

artnet,
Wouldn't that be 2 pair of drivers playing the same frequencies ? (ie. HP 80hz).

I think you should instead lowpass the 6.5" higher (say around 250hz) and highpass your 5.25" higher (also around 250hz). Or even if your 5.25" can really play to 80hz with authority on the dashboard, throw away the 6.5" and let the sub play to 80hz. That would be very nice ! Everything on the dashboard !

wah what car is this......can put 5.25" on dashboard..? if u want to play 80hz the speaker needs certain volume and sealed enclosure too...

but if u can pull it off i osso agree with weng2, no need 6.5 in doors oledi.  no reason for diff speakers to play same frequencies.

im guessing u dont have proper 4 way electronic crossover to do bandpass thats why u have the passives for lowpass...

so if u can get proper electronic crossover, maybe can replace the 6 with 8, play it 40-150hz, the 5.25 play 120hz up to tweeter's hipass...

this is my dashboard... fairly deep. i guess no problem to fit 5.25" mid +4" tweeter too.
it's a corolla spacio AE111N. the problem is i dunno where they should face and arrangement.
hope not to sacrifice the triangle mirror.

the 5.25 and 6.5 is from alpine F17t, 5,25 can play low but the xmax is just 2mm. 6.5" have 6mm.
so i let the 5.25 to sing down to 80hz@12db. so that it brings all the bass high up?
just let the 6.5" lowpass as the passive set but without highpass it to bring the sub bass up front?
does that make sense?

i did try 8" morel in my myvi... 8" hybrid + 5.25" alpine(kick) + diamond hex tweeter, subless.

but i do not wish to cut the door panel and steel again... myvi without proper door speaker
hole. therefore i cut it. this car has a proper hole, once cut it is gone forever.

Normally you would need an enclosure for the 5.25" to play down to 80hz. Or at least in IB/free air.

That is a very nice dashboard for ICE !

wah toyota spacio and F17T.....good good....

no prob if u wanna try the 5inch but i doubt u need to go as low as 80, but can try la, if 200 osso im happy, so if u can get 100plus osso cun la...

so now youre 6.5" can play 40 to 200 (or whatever your 5inch highpass is)...
