All,

What's a decent sub cable? Need a max 1.5 metre length. Budget RM500-800.

No Monster cable pls. Was thinking of Van De Hul or Audioquest unless my budget can stretch to Siltech or Transparent Audio. Amp is probably Steg K series. Sub is Focal K2p 27KX.

Sorry I'm a firm believer of cables having heard the differences Transparent Audio made to my Naim/Proac setup compared to cheaper cables.

llsaw,

Should you choose to spend so much on the sub cable, would you also please do a review comparing the expensive cable against say a decent 10AWG power cable? It would be nice for us to know how much diff there is. Thanks in advance!

Master D,

I think I'll rather not do that (post results in this forum) as I'll be opening another can of worms despite wat my ears tell me. As you can see from the responses there are believers and non-believers and there'll always be opinions despite what one person hears. As the famous saying. Opinions are like ***holes. Hi llsaw,

Well, as much as we each have our opinions, we should also listen to what others have to say. I really am keen to know the difference in normal and high-end cables, thus my honest suggestion. I fully understand where you are coming from and I will respect your decision.

If only I had expensive wires sitting around for me to test...hehe!  ;D

Just ordered Audioquest Sub1 mono-interconnect for my HU pre-out to amp connection

SUB-1 uses three solid 2.5% Silver conductors inside PE Air Tubes. Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion. PE Air Tubes minimize information smearing caused by any solid or foam insulation. Three conductors insure optimum performance, single-ended (RCA plugs) or balanced (XLR plugs). A 100% coverage shield insures noise-free performance. Silver-plated plugs are welded to Sub-1 using 8,000 amperes.

Silver-Plated Copper (SPC) always provides superior performance for video and digital audio. Unfortunately, when used for full range analog audio, the discontinuity of plating silver over copper causes high frequencies to sound edgy and harsh. However, when used only for subwoofer frequencies, SPC's "artificial edge" actually enhances the articulation and intelligibility of low frequency information. Do not use Sub-1 as a full range audio cable.

Still searching for sub speaker cable. Was offered VdH D352 but doubt that is good enuff.

Just ordered Van den Hul "The Wind" MkII Hybrid for my sub speaker cable..

Description:
Playing with ideas always opens new windows. One of these windows was the idea that it must be possible to write a computer program with the ability to fine-tune the signal transmission. The result is a fine-tuned product with predictable properties.
Our The WIND Mk II HYBRID was designed as a first result.
The WIND Mk II HYBRID is a multi-core single conductor loudspeaker cable with a very complex strand construction.

The WIND Mk II HYBRID consists of a total of 173 single non insulated strands in 5 different layers with a total cross-section area of 4.67 mm² equalling AWG 10.5.
To improve the overall transmission quality even more, we have coated the total metal construction with a Linear Structured Carbon ® saturated layer.
This extra item dramatically improves the sound quality.
The sonic result is a very detailed signal transmission with a superb spacious character.

The resistance of The WIND Mk II HYBRID is 3.7 Ohm/km. The external diameter is 6.2 mm.
The peach colored jacket is made of HULLIFLEX ® 3, a very flexible and mechanically superb insulation material.
Before connecting The WIND Mk II HYBRID to your equipment we advise to mildly twist both leads to keep them together.

not sure if there is a perfiect hifi up north
or where you got the vdh but if the price
is for 1.5m pair, then it is a very good deal.

btw, does your supplier have the D-352?

Just got my VDH "The Wind" Hybrid MKII speaker cable and it's grey in colour. Strange when VDH's web site says the cable jacket should be peach coloured.
