I took this from a car magazine a couple of months ago ....





It certainly gave a new insight to tweeter positioning ... but i believe some of the cons can be rectified with the presence of Time Alignment, Tweeter Gain and also abit of EQ ... what do u think?

those are for smaller and economic tweeters i guess ... not for your canggih and expensive tweeter ...

personally, i use more of 4, 5 and 6 ... all angle around the A pillar ....

My personal experience on kick panel installs would be that the tweeter itself does make the difference in whether will the staging sound low. Some tweeters will sound low and u can actually hear where it's coming from. Maybe due to the different off-axis response from different tweeters i suppose.

I've tried all those positions with the exception of the one on the door panel. Be it el'cheapo or super canggih tweeter, still too 'sayang' lar.

There's one more combo that I've tried. Having the tweeter in kick panels, placed on-axis and higher up on the A-pillar, placed off-axis angled slightly towards the windshield. Yes.... 2 pairs of tweeters. No.. I wasn't using any enhancement kits, just 2 pairs of tweeters crossed at diffrent XO points.

Pros: You get the stage height of the A-pillar installation and stage depth of the kick panel installation. Very nice and broad stage too. Never lacked in details, neither was it overly bright.

Cons: Takes up one additional channel of amplification. Also may sound too bright if gains are not properly adjusted. Not to mention days and nights of endless angling just to reduce the nightmarish reflections!

Unfortunately not. I've since taken out the tweets from the kick panels. Reason for doing so is the image was badly affected when someone sits on the passenger seat, blocking the path of the tweeters.

Just imagine this, it's a combo of pictures of the kick panel instalation and the A-pillar installation.

I saw Sushi Vega's tweets on the sidepanel/step near the doors. Sounds nice leh but I'm not too sure about the rain and dust.

I did kick panel + a-pillar combo before. Very nice. Pros and Cons listed in my reply above.

How did you set the xover points for the two sets of tweeters? Kicks running on passive?

The tweets on kicks are SEAS Lotus Reference RT25A and I used it with the passive that came along with it. HP at 1.7Khz. The tweets on A-pillars are Dali tweeters and also paired with Dali passives high passing at 4.5 Khz.

For tweets that are mounted high on the A-pillar, would it still sound like a point source or the midbass and tweet will sound too separated? I'm thinking of DIYing some A-pillars for fun.
