Type 1: The system consist of
1. Good Fancy Multi Function HU,
2. Good Processor or outboard cross over (with hundreds ways of tuning & tweaking)
3. 3 or more front drivers + Subs
4. More than 1 amps (dedicated channels for each drivers)
5. All of the Power enhancemennt and optimization eq
6. Specific and predetermined Interconnect and Cables
5. Damping off course include

Type 2.

2. A good Comp speakers 9same brand and series) with passive xover + Sub
3. A good Amp able to powered all the drivers (or 2 amps but no more than that)

Being Type 1 allows you to fine tune it until the cows come home... good for most of us as we always want to find ways to get more.

Type 2 allows you to sit back and enjoy the music more... once you get it right.. it is right and not much to tweak.

However, most people being a type 2 previously when starting out, changing to be a type 1 is attractive as you feel there are more ways which would be easier to get your system to sound better so you start to buy this and that to achive it. But in the end, in terms of effort required, type 1 and 2 needs about the same amount of effort but type 1 can be more rewarding and cause more problems...

I started off with passive and simple setup (sort of like type 2). Then go active (like type 1). Eventually back to more simple setup. I think the more simple the better. The less equipment the better. An icer may want to go through the process to appreciate the good and the bad of each system

Audiophiliac,

Like everyone here said, there are good and bad with both types. It very much depends on you and your overall aims. Like I said, Iam always been a Type 2 person and I wanted the setup to be as simple as possible without spending too much time on tuning and also money. So I set out and work on what I needed. Then when that is achieved, its time to tutup kedai, lean back and enjoy.

Iam sure you are in this hobby longer than Iam.

I am a type of:

i. Optimizing my system, tuning, increasing efficientcy, learning new tricks on installation.
ii. Always thinking what to do or what to add to make my system better.
iii. Does not believe super expensive equipment will make a perfect system.
iv. Do like to show off sometimes, especially on the traffic light with windows down and volume up.
v. Does not like the car next to me is louder than mine or better sounding.

Does that makes me strange????
