Dunlop glue use to stick dampening causes rust??
« on: November 30, 2006, 01:39:10 PM »
Alot of times i've seen ppl using the dunlop glue to stick dampening materials to their metal door, recently someone said that if not careful, using the dunlop glue might encourage rust on the door, something to do about its chemicals...

of course like dynamat and sika, its self adhesive... but i believe alot of us are using it one time or another...  /88 /88

The glue may remove the protective coatign on the door and promote rust if there is water there.

Then on top of that, using open celled foam as dampening... even higher chance of rust.

Anyway, if anyone wants closed cell foam I can get it... but the price is very prohibitive.

brandless... got it from a friend whose friend manufactures foam stuff...

Cost is about the same as DE per sq ft... so that is why I don't promote it.

Wow... that really is costly ;D But, just for the record, how thick is it and is it self-adhensive? But then again, most foam based are better off with applied adhensive, "self-adhensive" usually are double-sided tape as per those Superlon/Insuflex self-adhensives
