hi all sifu... need some clarification on sound deadening

most of the car acc here, when doing sound deadening, they'll use heat gun (no mater wat brand of sound deadening) n roller.
the thing is, they'll press the roller so hard till it got thin.I can see lots of bitumen being pressed away from all sides n they'll throw it away so it looks clean...

wat comes in my mind is, do they need to press that hard? the deadening material is the bitumen rite?as long as theres no air bubbles then its fine dy...

correct me if I'm wrong

yes rolling should be done merely to remove the air bubbles and not make it flat as a pancake.

as long as air pockets are removed and material adheres well to the metal surface, that should be it. making it too flat or removing any bituminous/asphalt renders it less effective. extra work but less results.

certain spec needs heat gun...
press too hard till lots of bitumen came out? what brand?
normally well-known brand will only leak out little bit even press hard.
quality and density of bitumen does matter... /76

taaron, how's ur door performance now?

the STP bomb is really great..overall performance i am satisfied but not sure how good if compared to other car makes with good solid chassis foundation..however, there's a little rattle on the plastic door panel on certain frequency, not sure if that frequency is on peak which needs eq cut, or maybe my door panel need to be relook at..if i remove my door panels and let my ice setup play, it is perfect..

another question, since my current front doors are treated with combination of STP Bomb and STP Gold for damping purpose, will it be better if 100% use STP Bomb only??

not necessary to use all bomb..it will kill your pocket.....the guide you shown are good enuff..provided you also got do the brace we discuss earlier.

-your door panel may need some extra adhesive to stick them together, it's made by a few pieces of panel, stick them well and i think your rattle sound will be solve :P
