For me, if you are into SQ, most music and songs are sufficient with just 1 sub. Even a 8" is enough for me in Dr's car. Maybe you are a born basshead deep down....hehehe /92

id prefer u get a more powerful amp, and a larger sealed box for the sub to go lower.  failing that only change sub, hehe...its entry level anyway..

id love to use 15, but u also need a larger box and then it wont be practical oledi.  also larger subs tend to be slower and cant keep up with the fronts.  unless u have dedicated midbass drivers in front, then it wouldnt be so bad.

Well the 12" VS 15" subs again.

Well how do I put this.... a 12" may play low freq. with the 15".. but with less SPL. The reason of why ppl claim the 12" cannot play as low as the 15" is that with less SPL you hardly feel the low end extension. A 15" btw can reproduce low freq. with less xmax and more SPL (as you know, lower freq. needs larger cone area given the same SPL).

Now comes with your enclosure. You want the sub to play low freq. and louder, but built a small sealed for it. Remember the Hoffman Iron Law? Again, sealing the enclosures is only using half of the subs potential. You want to go low and loud, go ported. If you have limited power but you may have extra space in oyur car, make the enclosure bigger and port it. It pays to increase efficiency.

Cheers

bro

Not too sure. Too big or too small is depends on the Q allignment of the sub. For small sealed will be boomy on the high and lacking on the lows. Maybe thats why you feel lacking on the low freq. Try to modelled your sub in WinISD and see the Q allignment and the freq. response whether it has peaks.
