Hi all newbie on ICE!
« on: November 10, 2006, 08:59:10 AM »
Hi all, stumble on this forum while browsing ISACA forum, did notice that most of you from mycarhifi forum as well.

Nice meeting all of you~ Newbie on ICE so hopefully can learn from all you sifus here.

I don't have anything setup on my Myvi yet except for

1. BM Boschmann 4" component speakers
2. Alpine CDA 9856

Was now considering whether to put active subwoofer(Alpine SWD-1600) or not as don't want to sacrifice boot space.

Hi Nice to meet ya. Personally I would prefer to upgrade to better speakers and an amp rather than a sub.

Wel-CUM

I am newbie also. I suggest you get an amp to drive up your component. As for active subwoofer,
you can choose any available in the market, but make sure got sufficient tune-ability.

Hi ... i have just installed the active subwoofer from alpine into my avanza ...

same issue i wanted to save space and also weight ....

some say the active subwoofer is only a woofer / midbass as it only can play 60hz - 160hz ...

to me it is sufficient .. price wise its from rm850 to rm950 and rather easy to install ....

if u wanna cut ur budget u may consider other makes or if u have more budget then u may need to spend on a bigger sub, an amp and again ur space...

hope this helps and welcome !!   /24

His 9856 got 3 preout, front, rear, sub. I did saw Focal has those sub-box + amp unit, pull the sub-pre out interconnect plug into the amp, voila...suka suka can pull out.  /78

I rather suggest get Bazooka Tube base... if you planning to upgrade your front component... then.. can budget to get 4 channel amp... use 2 channel for the front.. and bridge the other 2 to power a passive Bazooka Tube... bazooka tube save lots of space as you can make it to stand... and it still sound good... good for me...

yes... bazooka is another very good option to consider.. u will have balance budget to spend it elsewhere...

for me it was too late liao ... already bought the alpine ... :D

Well... so far, the best experience i had with active subs is the Infinity Basslink, really good stuff and not just over-hyped ;D But it's kinda costly, so far on the used market, it's around RM600-800, brand new retail pricing the last i check was slightly below 2 grand :o

Im driving myvi also... The boot space is too small to play ice and yet i dont give a damn about it as long as i can enjoy my ride. But its better to upgrade into 6.5" component set first rather than buying a sub
