2ch amp on 2 DVC subs
« on: July 16, 2008, 02:49:03 PM »
any possible to do this?

my situation now is i have a 2 ch amp which is bridged to drive a SVC sub at 4 ohm...

amp: PC2150
150w rms x 2 @ 4ohm
300w rms x 2 @ 2ohm
600w rms x 1 @ 4ohm

so currently i am driving a SVC 4 ohm sub...

thinking of upgrading to 2 units of W3D4...

while each JL needs 300W rms... is it possible for me not to bridge my amp and wire each channel for each sub?
if possible what connection should i use? parallel or series?

and any pros and cons doing this way compared to the normal bridging the amp for both subs? oh ya... the amp cannot go down to 2ohm when its bridged to 1 channel...

thanks...

you can do it....but it's dangerous

you must make sure the left & right channel input to the subwoofer is identical in terms of playing frequency and level

Yes you can wire one sub per channel and make use of 300w rms x 2 @ 2ohm. Each sub voice coil should be wired in parallel.

no problem, wire it in series/parallel u get a 4ohm load, which is 600W, and each sub then gets 300W each.

ok... thanks for the replies... and since that has no problem...

then now the next question is can i wire channel A to one VC and channel B to another VC on a single DVC 4+4 sub?

signel feed is mono... if that makes a difference...

thanks....

I'm not sure, but I think that's what calvinhpk said you have to be careful to do that

Just curious, why would you do that ? you are feeding 150w into each coil, which is total 300w at 4 ohm. Its the same as bridging the amp into 2 ohm which is also 300w. Also how do you feed mono signal from channel A and B separately ? Using Y cable ? Or I misread what you mean ?

no misreading...

just wondering can it be done if it can then i could widen my search for 600W rms 2+2 subs...

just playing around with my options before i proceed with my upgrading...

cheers...
