What ICE do you recommend?
« on: May 20, 2008, 11:18:03 PM »
Hi I'm newbie here, and now are into ICE fever, hope to get some advice from you.

What would you recommend for the ICE if you have around RM4000 (+/-) budget? I mostly listen to Jazz, Pop, Rock….
Please let me know if you know there are similar thread exist in this forum.

HU: Existing Civic factory HU. Can support after upgrade?
Subwoofer:  Existing sub 12” Deep Blue. Not sure what brand is it? Need to upgrade?
Frontstage comp speaker: ?
Amp: Existing amp Agako E4004. Upgrade necessary if get a good component? 1 amp or 2 amp? 2/4/5 channel?
RCA: ? How much will it improve the overall SQ?

If possible could you list the price as well?

Please also recommend a good reputation of ICE installers preferably from Penang. If none from Pg, i don't mind travelling down to KL. Really appreciate that...

Thank you.

What system do you recommend for this price range?
Mind to share what's your current setup? What music you are into?

Since you already have a decent sub(You mentioned Deep Blue, I supposed it's a Helix Deep Blue, which is considered as quite decent), you can skip upgrading it.

Concentrate on getting an aftermarket HU for your setup, if not mistaken the Civic's HU doesn't have any RCA output, and also it has some weird signal response due to being EQ-ed for the cabin itself. So the first upgrade would be to get a new HU, either install another one in the console in front of the gear knob, or get the aftermarket adapter and replace the stock HU compartment. That should cost around RM1.5k roughly already depending on what HU you buy.

Can't recommend you on the component as I'm not too well versed with the component set market. If you plan to run active, might as well just get raw components.

Well.. you could re-use your amp if you only want to run front 2-way passive and sub.
