Ferite Stone
« on: October 26, 2006, 01:52:51 PM »
Hi,
I am hoping some of you would be able to help me here.
I am looking for Ferite Stones; the stuff used to reduce noise on cables. Honestly, I have absolutely no idea where to get them.
Secondly, any ideas what type of sizes they come in?

Please help.
Thanks.

I've some. Willing to give you 1 or 2. So, come look for me. Btw, what will you be using this for? Remember, if you use it for RCA, it may also filter off your desired frequencies.

thanks for the offer mike,
but i think i'll need more. going to use them for both RCAs and speaker cables.

Yeah, i'm worried about the lost of signal as well. I'm actually still doing some research and i have to see what is available in the Malaysian market as well.

If you don't have noise issues, forget about using it. It could make your music thinner.

Yeah!

Too much ferite stones on RCA and speaker cables can kill the sound. It may cause loss of detail, and can effect certain frquencies as Mnkh described. It's effects are at worse, unprdictable. The good part is that they are cheap if you can get them from Pasar Rd.

But they certainly will help when used on power cables.

Bad idea... tried it for fun but lost detail.

Good for power cables though
