I'm a newbie on this thing....

Setup is mixture of passive and active, and when I really listen (audit) the output, there is slight difference between them. Passive :- depends on the brand, active can be played around (H701).

Questions: Can they be combine together, what I mean is,  the drive setup is passive and the amp running it is active, (the result: hard time in getting the suitable output)

you are trying to run active but have the same SQ as running passive?

yes.... . Active due to H701; passive due to the component, when hooked up the active is thru the amp and the passive thru the driver,

H701 can be use either active or passive crossover coz 5.1 maa....

the way i understand...it's a passive setup...

what he's trying to say is... use normal component set with the passive xover.... then when connect to amp...use the amp's xover as active... because can change the xover setting at the amp...

right?

Now this is becoming even more complicated.....
why...cos, there will be three xover applied, from the component, from the amp and from the H701.
Unless, the amp xover is turn to OFF, the driver gets the xover from the processor, will this be active.
The scenario is if all the xover is applied (turn on), will the system/output be like "putting cat and dog together"

head unit - pxa701 - amp - passive - speakers.........correct??

this is normal, for ppl who dont have enough amplifier channels to run full active, maybe they just have a 4ch amp, so can run fronts & sub only.

so in this case, HU xover set to full range or off, depending on your menu.  pxa only use front & sub.  aiseh cant remember the pxa menu exactly but speaker select component and not sure use front 1 or 2, and of coz just have to set front highpass around 63hz, front lowpass = off, sub lowpass around 63 also and sub highpass off.

output wise its best to get the system scoped and then only can set the gains properly.

Yeah very complicated. Yes, if all crossover applied, it will be rojak. Double filtering, "double" slopes. I'm guessing you have not enough amp channel that's why you have to use the component's passive crossover ?

If you intend to go active - use only either the HU or 701, as zenn mentioned. Either way, it is considered active.

Semi-active - tweeter and midrange use passive crossover. Midbass active. You still have to HP the tweeter_midrange combo

Passive - HP only to the passive crossover. If this is the case, you dont need the crossover from 701.

Bi/Tri amp - active, but go through the passive crossover

Multi-amplification:- the purpose to use multiple amp to divide the frequency spec into smaller division.
the setup is:-

HU-H701-front & sub (each has it own amp to run)
HU-amp-rear(component)
this is the main system

Front tweet and center channel hook up from another amp but seldom switch on (also run thru H701), unless trying to zeroing the center stage, like I said earlier, seldom switch on.

B4, I used to hooked up the rear to the H701, and the output sound far away, guess due to the xover from the amp, component and the H701. (that is why whether the "rojak" or "cat and dog mixed together" thing come up).

Looks like you have dedicated amp for active. H701 is capable to run them. Why not run everything from HU --> 701 --> Amps --> Speakers ? Dont use the passive crossover for the moment and see how first

the component (2way) w/o the passive, process from the 701, runs by amp (2 ch) = midbass/midrange (disconnect the tweet)

wish I could do that, cos the driver applied are Boston Acoustic Pro and MTX TXC6.1
