want to upgrade my class D amp...
« on: October 27, 2007, 08:35:45 AM »
currently im using mohawk 2000.1 monoblock which rated 1650rms at 1ohm and i doubt its capability of producing up to that amount of RMS as rated.

I would like to have an amp which are capable of pumping out 3000watts RMS as im going to participate in my local SPL class B competition..

any recommendation by sifu here as my exposure of differant brand is very limited. my budget is RM 4k whether its used or new.... currently for the time being i only manage to came across the ameron 3000watts which is less than RM 4K and it need to special order as this is their flagship for spl competition... what say you guys...?

I have DD Audio Z1 going for RM3500. Plenty of power for your SPL needs and you'll be the only one in Msia to own one. Let me know if you're interested.

5000w @ 1 ohm only if you feed it with 15-16v. You need to use something like the Accuvolt voltage regulator.

More realistically, I would expect 3000w on a regular high output alternator at 14v.

im more than happy to get such a fast reply from you guys... sorry for my lack of knowledge, but  there is something i would like to ask ...is this DD audio digital amp is a reliable and reputable brand? and since the rm4k budget for me is a once and for all budget so if anything goes wrong i will left no bullet to get another unit.. hope u guys understand.. by the way , i took down your phone number already.. once i had solve my doubt about this amp and happy with it , i shall proceed with you..

oh yea... btw is this amp 3000w at 1ohm 14.4v rated as RMS?? because im using it to power 3 units of 10" 500w RMS each..

maybe i could share about the competition that im going and maybe u guys can give me some opinion as well. in my category, group B we have the option to use either 3 units of 10" , or 2 unit of 12" or 1 unit of 15". i opt for the 10" since the cone area would be the largest. with the ameron 3000watt amp that i borrowed currently i managed to hit best at 148db. no matter wat had been done, from doing a full night battery charging to using 0 gauge power cable it would go up anymore. and after i bridged 2 unit of the same amp, borrowed another unit from my friend's shop and re calculate the slotted vent, the highest to achieve is a mere 150.3db but it holds only around 3 sec and it drop down again i suspect my battery unable to coupe.

on 2 units of 3000watt amp for 3 units of 12" i saw a guy getting 153db...

so is there anyway i could touch 150db without draining too much power.. im avoiding to use more than one amp as the db reading is very inconsistant due to the lack of my electrical supply..
do enlight me on this .. thankyou
